Call for the development of the universal access to the TIC

At the conclusion of with the workshop of sensitizing and dialogue organized by the Institute Panos West Africa (IPAO) on the topic “universal Access to the TIC and democratic governorship in Senegal” of the 16 at December 18, 2008 in Dakar, a call for the development of the universal access to the TIC for reinforcement of the communication citizen and the governorship in Senegal was launched in direction of the political decision makers, the members of Parliament, the town councilors and the leaders of opinion, the private sector and the organizations of the civil society, the media and the academics. The object of this call in particular aims at claiming the starting of the activities of the Development funds of the universal service of telecommunications (FDSUT) envisaged by article 9 of the law n° 2001-15 of bearing December 27, 2001 Code telecommunications and whose operation is organized by the decree n° 2007-593 of May 10, 2007. In a declaration, made public and relating to the publication of l' Index of corruption of the exporting countries (ICPE), the civil Forum (FC) required of l' Senegalese state to publish the convention of sale of the third licence of Gsm in the mobile telephony passed with Sudatel. Indeed, since more d' one year that the third licence of mobile telephony was yielded to Sudatel, the Senegaleses are unaware of still all the contents of the sale contract signed between l' Senegalese state and the Sudanese company. Conflict enters the UNACOIS and Tigo about the marketing of telephone products

The National union of the tradesmen and industrialists of Senegal (UNACOIS), which had signed a contract with Tigo granting the exclusiveness in the sale of charts of telephone refills and subscription to a hundred of its members, threatens to trail the mobile telephone operator following the unilateral rupture of the contract binding the two structures. Tigo indeed decided to reduce the number of recipients of this agreement to a score of tradesmen while extending the monopoly of the distribution of its products to two other companies. Read More
The National Assembly equipped with 170 computers

On December 17, 2008, the National Assembly received a batch of 170 computers including 100 offered by the European Union (EU) and 70 the presidency of the Republic. This equipment should in particular be used for the installation of a network Intranet as well as the generalization of the access to the Internet in all the space of the Parliament thanks to the Wifi system. On December 5, 2008, Sonatel carried out launching of exclusiveness in the iPhone 3 G in the form of a range of three fixed prices respectively authorizing 2:35 of communication + 200 Mo of data, 4:30 of communication + 300 Mo of data and 6:50 of communication + 400 Mo of data). Within the framework of the “Box Private individuals”, the model 8 Go is sold 345.900 Francs CFA and the model 16 Go with 405.900 Francs CFA, the price of the fixed prices being respectively of 16.900 Francs CFA, 28.900 Francs CFA and 44.900 Francs CFA. There exists also a “Box Professionals” whose price of the fixed prices is overall of the same order but within the framework of which the price of the apparatus varies between 207.900 Francs CFA and 326.900 Francs CFA, according to the selected fixed price. UCAD and Microsoft sign an Agreement

 L’Université Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD) et Microsoft ont signe hier a Dakar un accord de partenariat qui permet de ‘’domicilier la certification de microsoft dans l’Institution et d’aider a la vulgarisation de l’informatique a travers le pays. Selon le recteur de l’UCAD, 4 axes seront privilégies dont : les TIC ;les biotechnologies ; l’aquaculture et la confection. Selon le Recteur, UCAD dispose d’une population de 300 étudiants inscrits en informatique, d’un réseau de 6km de fibre optique, de 372 ordinateurs portables(distribues aux enseignants) et une bande passante ayant migre de 2megabits a 10 mégabits. Le partenariat avec Msoft devrait permettre d’avoir ‘’plus ou mieux’( ??) Pousuivant plus loin, le recteur estime que le Sénégal ‘’devra travailler a la production de logiciels didactiques en puisant dans nos valeurs, notre culture’’. Il est aussi question, a travers ce partenariat, d’augmenter les sites web du pays d’organiser des campus pédagogiques pendant les vacances et d’implanter l’informatique dans le monde rural (sic)….Assez ambitieux non ?
